Description

In 2017, to mark the twentieth anniversary of the publication of the book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," an unusual exhibition opened at the New-York Historical Society, allowing visitors to explore the fascinating and real history of magic that underpins the Harry Potter series. Featuring a treasury of over 150 magical artifacts from the British Library, the New-York Historical Society, and other world-renowned institutions, this book will help you embark on a journey through the exhibition and closely examine the amazing items studied at Hogwarts: potions, spells, care of magical creatures, and more.

On these pages, you have the opportunity to see Leonardo da Vinci's notebook and the oldest atlas of the night sky, to look at a bezoar and a narwhal tusk (or maybe it's a unicorn horn...?), to peek into a tea cup for divination or a black, black cauldron, and also to find out where the spell "Abracadabra" comes from... In addition to these incredible exhibits, you will be able to see amazing sketches and manuscripts from J.K. Rowling's personal archive, as well as impressive and never-before-seen original illustrations by the artists who worked on the Harry Potter book covers – Mary GrandPré, Jim Kay, and Brian Selznick.
